Remember me?
My latest pastime is to neglect the blog and then to backdate posts to catch up. Because, you see, I am still cooking, but have the galling audacity not to share with you. It’s like blogging, but not actually in real-time.
I promise that I wasn’t taking you for granted, although it may have seemed as though I have been. You see, I have a problem with work-life balance. I also have a problem with overextending myself. I also have a problem with choosing to sleep during the little free time that I have had.

I can barely move to type this. The high temperature here today was over 100 degrees. It’s now almost midnight and it’s still over 80 inside.
Every single window is open, as is all but one door. Every fan we own is on high. Even without the heat, the noise is deafening.
This is punishing; this is inhuman.
Bleah.

I am tired. Bone tired.
Ok, maybe not bone tired. But certainly brain tired.
The depth of my exhaustion was not conducive to being creative or to even going to the farmers market.
Instead, I turned to comfort food. The type of food that I end up making during the winter. Spurred by compelling cravings for creamy white beans and for smoky bacon.

When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before cream sets out too long
You must whip it
When somethin’s goin’ wrong
You must whip it
Whip it good
Is it just me or is every single summer weekend a little too full for comfort?
Coupled with the crushing toil of modern work life, it’s sometimes a little too much to handle.
That was my weekend.
Which is how Devo ended up being the weekend’s soundtrack. An upbeat and wacky way to sail through it all.
