Pins of the week: 2012 London Olympics
Posted on 3 August 2012 | Comments Off on Pins of the week: 2012 London Olympics
Admittedly, we don’t watch much Olympics (or any other sports) in our home, but it’s difficult not to get caught up in the excitement of the London Games. Also, the drool-worthy athletes do much to inspire when I am at the gym.
- I don’t know who this Stasty is, but she has me floored with her lemon-flavored Olympic Torch Cupcakes. Also, her post is charmingly non-American, as in her use of “colourful” and “caramelised.”
- Almost as enticing are these Olympic Torch Cupcakes from Hoosier Homemade. She went wrong by making chocolate cupcakes. Egads.
- Oh wow. Another set of Olympic Torch Cupcakes. You know what? I don’t even need the cupcake; I’m happy with just the buttercream.
- If cake isn’t your thing, even of the cup variety, then how about some Olympic Torch Ice Cream Cones?
- How about something for the grownups? Like an adult beverage? Like this Olympic Cocktail? Yes, that sounds about right.

I was naive.
Or clueless.
Or both.
Now, I’m no fool (perhaps). I knew that, by moving to Denver, I was giving up access to the bounty that is California’s Central Valley. But I didn’t appreciate the depths of winter and the much, much shorter growing season.
Naive, I tell ya.
Every Saturday during the winter, I resignedly trudged to the (only!) indoor farmers market and hoped to find something more than the (only!) paltry basket of tiny potatoes that were the available fresh veggies. I did develop an unfortunate fixation on some enticing empanadas, which accomplished little, other than to pad my waistline.
I diligently followed the local farmers markets and marked their opening dates in the calendar: April 7 in Boulder and May 5 in Cherry Creek.

Big news! (and some Halloween)

So, it’s now November. Almost the end of November at that.
I haven’t even logged in to post since March — I just found an aborted post that I had forgotten about — after I made such a big to-do about allegedly being back.
But I am back for reals now…mostly because I am now moving to Denver.
