Time to Can It Up!

Are you ready to preserve? It’s finally October 1st! It’s time to Can It Up!
Ok, I’m faking my enthusiasm. While I can’t wait to start canning with you all, I am under the weather today. My throat is on fire.
Also, I am irritated — maybe more so because I don’t feel well — because people are misusing OUR hashtag #CanJam. How dare they! So, I combed the interwebs for another hashtag that no one else would co-opt because it would be ours…all ours!
#CanItUp. Use it. Love it.
I may be a little delirious. Certainly cranky.

Pins of the week: Coffee

Happy National Coffee Day! As the days grow shorter, I find that I need increasingly more caffeine to function effectively. I can’t imagine how dire the situation will be when Daylight Savings ends. Egads!
- Since it’s still warm — but, thankfully, no longer hot — an iced coffee will hit the spot.
- Perhaps doubly (triply?) so for coffee ice cream with hot fudge sauce.
- Matt is a big flavored creamer fan. I can imagine making a batch of this pumpkin spice or French vanilla homemade coffee creamer in a few weeks.
- Coffee cake…made with espresso? Oh, Joy, you devil.
- I can imagine sipping this cross between cocoa and coffee when the weather turns cooler.

I may have come to terms with autumn.
Ah, alluring autumn. Brisk mornings. The crunch of leaves underfoot. Trees dripping with golden and carmine boughs.
And the seduction of comfort food. We spent all summer gorging on fresh produce. Now, we have turned to the lure of excess calories required to power through the impending winter. Perfectly understandable.
Except that it’s too soon. It’s only late September. The local highs have been in the mid-70s, which I consider perfect. We have been pounded by several thunderstorms recently, which have deposited snow in the mountains, but have been a welcome respite from the scorching summer season.
Yet my mind insists on contemplating comfy, cozy comfort food.
