Look, there’s a reason why the folks of Downton Abbey serve “bought marmalade.”
Marmalade is not easy. It’s exacting. It’s laborious. It demands several hours of hands-on time for a modest yield. It dirties an crushing number of pots and other dishes.

They allege that procrastination and perfectionism are positively correlated.
They certainly are in my case. Which is why I have been sitting on this post for well over a week. That and the fact that I am sick…yet again.
It started with a case of the sniffles on Sunday. Then, coupled with a terrible night of very little sleep and dehydration, it may have progressed (yet again) into a sinus infection. I’m in deep, deep denial.

Welcome to 2013, y’all!
And welcome to January, soup month! All soup, all the time. Also, I like soup, especially as the weather turns colder. By colder, I mean, of course, that the daily highs are in the 50’s, but dip to the chilly upper 30’s at night. It’s now so frigid in the mornings that I can no longer wear shorts when I take the dogs outside. It’s a wonder that I haven’t frozen to death yet.
