Can It Up: September

Can you believe this is our 12th month of Can It Up? I can’t!
I’ve met my goal of canning every month over the last 11. Admittedly, that’s been a LOT easier since I moved back to California.
In fact. I’ve preserved more this past year than ever before. I’m so ready for holiday gift-giving that it’s ridiculous.
In any case, what are we going to preserve with in our 12th month of Can It Up? Let’s find out…
Let’s Can It Up!
- First, review the Can It Up ground rules.
- During the month of September (that means up to September 30th), please either link your post to this post using the tool below; email me your post or photo; post your post or photo in the Comments section of this post; or tweet your post or a photo using our hashtag #CanItUp. Or you can do all four! I will do a round-up on October 1st.
- Please mention Can It Up and link back to this post.
- To include your photo in the monthly roundup post, email it to me by September 30th. It must be at least 670 pixels wide and oriented horizontally (i.e. landscape).
- Don’t forget that your preserve must be water-bath canned. Read up on water-bath canning.
September’s selected ingredient is tomatoes! Tomatoes should your preserve’s shining star.

Oh, yay, love tomatoes and I just made sweet and savory tomato jam! I’ll get you a photo on twitter. I have trouble doing monthly canning due to weather here but I’ve been thrilled with summer produce. As usual, I buy too much fruit and vegetable at farmer’s market so preserving is the way to go.
xena, same here! but the weather is getting hot here so not sure how much preserving i’ll do in the next week.
