Can It Up: December
Posted on 01 December 2012
Now that I am back in California, I am so ready to Can It Up this month!
You weren’t kidding around with your contributions to last month’s Can It Up with cranberries. I can’t wait to see what you make this month.
Let’s Can It Up!
- First, review the Can It Up ground rules.
- During the month of December (that means up to December 31st), please either link your post to this post using the tool below; email me your post or photo; post your post or photo in the Comments section of this post; or tweet your post or a photo using our hashtag #CanItUp. Or you can do all four! I will do a round-up on January 1.
- Please mention Can It Up and link back to this post.
- To include your photo in the monthly roundup post, email it to me by December 31st. It must be at least 670 pixels wide and oriented horizontally (i.e. landscape).
- Don’t forget that your preserve must be water-bath canned. Read up on water-bath canning.
December’s selected ingredient is booze! Any type of alcohol can be used as your preserve’s shining star.
There’s another giveaway this month! Preserve It! is a no-kidding preserving book. It includes recipes for preserves, of course, but also chapters on drying, freezing, salting, and lots more. If you have ever wanted to do more than water-bath can (or you’re a survivalist), this is the book for you.
The contest is open through midnight PT December 31, 2012. You can enter either by leaving a comment on this post or by participating in #CanItUp. The latter counts as a double entry. The winner will be selected via random drawing.
This contest is open only to residents of the United States.
P.S. If you have any questions/feedback/whatever, email me at allfourburners {{at}} gmail {{dot}} com.

Nothing says the holidays like alcoholic preserves. Nice choice!
Rachel, ha! That’s exactly what Matt said.
I have never canned anything alcoholic, so this will be a new one for me. I have been doing the Can It Up since I came across your blog, but don’t really know how this works. I did do a bunch of cranberry stuff in November–Cran-Pear-y Juice, Cran-Pear-y Butter, Cran-Apple Juice, Cran-Apple Sauce and Cranberry Orange Sauce. I don’t have a blog (yet) and am not really sure how all of this works. So I am following along and silently participating, lol!
Deborah, so glad that you are joining us each month. I’ll email you separately too.
have had soooo much fun experimenting with alcoholic recipes this year.. found punk domestics. need i say more? some friends have a basic palette but the adventurous friends clamor for more. can’t wait to see what happens this month
Sharron, I was looking through Punk Domestics last night myself…digging around for inspiration.
I love it Hima. Keeping me on my toes. I’ve never used alcohol in my canning, but I’m certainly up for the challenge. 😉
Gloria, I’ve used it occasionally, but as a side note, not the main event. I’m excited to do something different this month!
Very excited to join in this month! Have Meyer lemon infused vodka just waiting to be used, among other things hanging around.
